Assisted Opening Knives
The opening action of a knife is determined by the internal mechanisms around the folder's pivot. All Kershaw pocketknives provide smooth opening action using a variety of opening mechanisms. Kershaw invented the assisted opening knife when they launched a revolution with SpeedSafe assisted opening knives. When closed, the torsion bar in the handle creates a bias toward the closed position. When opening, the torsion bar adds to the pressure from your finger and pushes the blade open. Today they are considered the benchmark of assisted opening knives.
